FEATURES: This is one of the shortest hikes in the Sedona area that still affords a three hundred sixty degree panoramic view
of the mountains and canyons of the entire area. Unusual rock formations
LEVEL: Moderate
HIKING TIME: Approximately
one hour each way.
DRIVING TIME FROM THE INTERSECTION OF 89A AND SR 179: About 20 minutes.
DESCRIPTION: This is not an official Forest Service trail and would be
difficult to find without clear directions (never fear
our directions will get you there). But the search is certainly worth the effort as can be seen from the photo above. This trail snakes up the side of a
narrow monument where the hiker is perched on what can
only be described by an eagle who has just secured his
seasonal nesting place. You may have to duck on occasion to avoid some of our high flying fine feathered friends. There are lots of "social" trails that intersect this one but the photo guide is easy to follow.
DRIVING CONDITIONS: Several miles of the drive are on a dirt road where you
see cars as well as jeeps. However for the last mile of
the journey, I would not attempt it without a high
clearance vehicle. The road is
not maintained and is extremely rocky.
