FEATURES: One of a handful of loop hikes. Arches, panoramic views and unusual rock formations reward the hiker of this journey. LEVEL: moderate-difficult (due to the time)
HIKING TIME: Approximately 4.5 hours roundtrip.
DRIVING TIME FROM THE INTERSECTION OF 89A AND SR 179: About ten minutes.
DESCRIPTION: This route employs part of an official Forest Service trail that begins by passing a recent sink hole then a series of special pools. It climbs to the top of a flat hill where you will hike for about one quarter of a mile. Then it leaves the official trail, weaves around a cliff wall and as it descends passes a natural arch. The views back are a treat-- the entire southwest corner of Verde Valley may be viewed.
